Manli Zhang
Senior Economist | Country Risk and Economic Analysis
Manli Zhang serves as Senior Economist of Country Risk and Economic Analysis at EXIM. In this role, she conducts in-depth research on economic, financial, and political conditions affecting country creditworthiness, prepares country risk reviews, and proposes risk ratings for the U.S. government’s Inter-Agency Country Risk Assessment System (ICRAS). She regularly represents EXIM in OECD forums, proposing and defending country risk assessments, manages communications and coordination with the OECD Secretariat and the Country Risk Experts (CRE) group, and oversees reviews of foreign currency eligibility for EXIM’s Foreign Currency Guarantee Program.
Before joining EXIM, Manli was an Assistant Professor of International Business at American University, Washington Semester Program & Kogod School of Business, and served as Faculty Chairman and Director of International Business for the Washington Semester Program. She taught courses in International Business, International Finance, and Economic Policy. At The George Washington University, she taught courses in International Business and International Finance.
Manli holds a M.A. and B.A. in Economics from the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China, an International Management Certificate from New York University’s Stern School of Business, and a Ph.D. in International Finance and Development Economics from The George Washington University.
