Speakers at 2018 EXIM Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. - Revised
Washington, D.C. - Leaders of government, international business, academia, and the media will address the 2018 Annual Conference of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) on Thursday and Friday, April 19-20, at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. The event features a keynote address, plenary discussions, and breakout sessions on economic and trade issues, as well as opportunities for networking.
On Thursday, April 19, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross will be the keynote speaker at the luncheon from 12:30-2 p.m. EXIM will present its annual small business awards at the luncheon on Friday, April 20.
Thursday morning's plenary sessions include a conversation on trade with Senator Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota moderated by Kevin Cirilli, chief Washington correspondent for Bloomberg Television and Bloomberg News. Also on Thursday, Doug Palmer, senior trade reporter for Politico, will moderate a discussion with congressional leaders Rep. Frank Lucas (OK-3rd) and Rep. Gwen Moore (WI-4th).
Following the congressional panel will be a discussion about global competitiveness and the role of export credit agencies, moderated by Douglas Holtz-Eakin, president of the American Action Forum, and featuring executives from Linde Engineering North America, Acrow Corp., Orbital ATK, and XCoal Energy and Resources. Thursday's plenary sessions conclude with a candid armchair discussion between Chairman and CEO of The Bechtel Group Brendan Bechtel and Matthew P. Goodman, senior advisor for Asian Economics, Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
Friday morning's plenary sessions begin with a discussion about EXIM Bank's strategic outlook between the bank's acting head of agency, EXIM Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Jeffrey Goettman, and Glenn Youngkin, co-chief executive officer of The Carlyle Group.
Also on Friday, Nick Juliano, deputy energy editor of Politico, will moderate a panel discussion on the global outlook for the U.S. energy industry with Basil El-Baz, chairman and CEO of Carbon Holdings; Jose Gutierrez, president and CEO of Westinghouse Electric Company; Tim Roemer, former Indiana congressman and former U.S. ambassador to India, currently executive director and strategic counselor at APCO Worldwide; and Deborah Wince-Smith, president of The Council on Competitiveness. Friday's plenary sessions conclude with a discussion between GE Board Member Nominee Lawrence Culp, senior lecturer at the Harvard Business School, and David M. Rubenstein, co-founder and co-executive of The Carlyle Group.
