Portrait of Aryam Vázquez

Aryam Vazquez serves as Chief Economist of Country Risk and Economic Analysis at EXIM. In this role he leads, manages and directs the bank’s economic research unit, responsible for macro forecasts and analysis– encompassing the U.S., key developed and developing economies (emerging and frontier). He conducts and executes the (federal) intra-government sovereign and non-sovereign risk rating process – overseeing, reviewing, and presenting risk rating recommendations/assessments that drive the risk subsidy charged by U.S. government agencies on cross-border transactions. He also leads the team and process as part of the U.S. delegation at the OECD Country Risk Experts Group, driving the technical and independent sovereign risk analysis process used to determine EXIM Bank’s exposure fees.

While at EXIM, Aryam has proudly raised the reach, visibility and professionalism of the CREA team, within EXIM Bank and outside the broader U.S. government and kept the CREA team together – throughout the past four years the CREA team has not had any resignations, firings or departures.

Prior to working at EXIM, Aryam was Chief Global Macro Strategy at SunTrust Banks, Director Global Macro Strategy at Oxford Economics, and an International Economist at Wells Fargo. Additionally, Aryam holds a BA in Economics and International Affairs from Muhlenberg College and an MA in Economics and International Affairs from Columbia University.
