Thursday, September 26, 1996

Dr. Paula Stern, Advisory Committee Chairperson, will lead the meeting in discussing:

1) the findings of the internal Bank working groups assigned to support the Committee, and

2) ideas presented at the meeting by GAO representatives regarding the tradeoff between possible actions taken by Ex-Im Bank to save money and the ability of the Bank to accomplish its objectives.

Ex-Im Bank's 15-member Advisory Committee was established by an act of Congress to represent views from various sectors of the U.S. economy regarding the Bank's programs. The members are appointed by Ex-Im Bank's Board of Directors. The sectors represented include commerce, finance, services, production, labor, state government and agriculture.

This year's Committee is focusing on the rechartering issue at all of its meetings. Thursday's meeting is the third of four planned this year.
