Selling to Foreign Buyers on Terms Without Carrying the Risk

Wednesday, October 28, 2026 2:00 to 3:00 pm Eastern / 1:00 to 2:00 pm Central Online, on Zoom. No cost to attend.

Who should attend: All businesses, especially small businesses in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana that sell to foreign buyers, or have a foreign buyer asking for a quote right now. This includes first-time exporters and minority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned, and rural businesses. Bankers and trade advisors who work with them are welcome too.

Your foreign buyer wants 30, 60, or 90 days to pay. Saying no can cost you the order. Saying yes can put your cash flow at risk. In one hour, learn how to do both: offer the terms and still get paid in full.

What you will learn

  • Ship it. How to offer the open-account terms foreign buyers expect, backed by export credit insurance that covers up to 95 percent of the invoice if the buyer does not pay.
  • Prove it. The export documents that get your shipment cleared and your invoice paid, from the commercial invoice to the certificate of origin.
  • Get paid. How insured foreign receivables can help your own bank lend you more to fill the order, and where state grants can help with the cost.

Featured speaker: Eric Miller, Regional Director, Houston, Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM). A Texas native, Eric spent more than a decade exporting capital equipment to buyers in 33 countries and used EXIM as a customer before joining it.

Bring a real deal you are working on. Eric will take questions live.

Texas has led the nation in exports for 24 years running, and 92 percent of its exporters are small or mid-sized businesses.
