Statement of Export-Import Bank of the United States Chair Reta Jo Lewis on Senate Confirmation of U.S. Congressman Spencer Bachus to Second Term at EXIM Board of Directors

Washington, DC — The U.S. Senate confirmed former U.S. Congressman Spencer Bachus III to a second term on the Board of Directors at the Export-Import Bank of the United States, Wednesday night. 

"I am so pleased that the U.S. Senate has confirmed Congressman Bachus to the EXIM Board of Directors. I look forward to working with him again on EXIM’s important mission of supporting American jobs by facilitating the export of U.S. goods and services. His extensive experience has been a tremendous asset to our Board.”

Congressman Bachus previously served on the EXIM Board of Directors from May 9, 2019, through July 20, 2023. Congressman Bachus also formerly served as a U.S. Representative from Alabama and as Chairman of the House Committee on Financial Services, which is responsible for overseeing and advancing legislation related to EXIM. 

Congressman Bachus will return to EXIM and  serve a term through January 2027 on the EXIM Board, which reviews and approves billion-dollar transactions and considers program and policy matters, among other duties, that support the Bank’s efforts to fulfill its statutory mission of facilitating exports and supporting U.S. jobs.
