RENO, NEVADA – Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) President and Chair Reta Jo Lewis on Friday addressed the U.S. Conference of Mayors 90th Annual Meeting in Reno, NV, where she discussed opportunities to collaborate on EXIM priorities with mayors from cities across the U.S.

During her keynote address, Chair Lewis highlighted the Make More in America Initiative, which is designed to strengthen America’s supply chains and create new opportunities for small- and medium-sized businesses; ultimately, reinvigorating the communities that rely on the success of smaller enterprises.

“From mayors and governors around the United States to cabinet ministers from around the world, we have hit the ground running building awareness for the new financing tools EXIM is offering – specifically in expanding America’s manufacturing capacity and supporting exports of clean and renewable energy technologies,” said Chair Lewis. “Enhancing EXIM’s outreach to America’s mayors and forging strategic partnerships will allow us to better serve the areas where the success of small and medium-sized businesses is most pointedly felt, and I look forward to future collaborations.”

Following her speech at the Annual Meeting, Chair Lewis met with mayors from several cities, among them, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot as well as Tom Cochran, CEO and Executive Director of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. During these meetings, Chair Lewis discussed positive economic effects of their cities’ small businesses and reemphasized EXIM’s ongoing support. Chair Lewis also discussed opportunities for outreach and collaboration around the Make More in America Initiative.
