WASHINGTON, DC – The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) today awarded Angola’s Radio Signal Expansion and Studio Modernization Project the first-ever China and Transformational Exports Program (CTEP) Deal of the Year Award at its 2022 Annual Conference.

A recognition of an export transaction for its impact as U.S. exporters compete against China in the global marketplace, this project allowed Mason, OH exporter GatesAir to access EXIM-backed financing and remain competitive.

The project, which will provide 95 percent of the Angolan population with FM radio signals once complete, saw the successful collaboration of GatesAir, EXIM-guaranteed lender Deutsche Bank and the Republic of Angola.

“I am so pleased to be awarding EXIM’s first-ever CTEP Deal of the Year,” said EXIM President and Chair Reta Jo Lewis. “Since directed by Congress in 2019 to establish this program, we have worked diligently to help U.S. exporters meet Chinese competition and support U.S. innovation and employment.”
