Congressman Spencer Bachus Sworn in for Second Term at Export-Import Bank of the United States Board of Directors

WASHINGTON – Today, the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) celebrated the swearing in of former Congressman Spencer Bachus III to the Board of Directors for a second term. Director Bachus was officially sworn in on January 3, 2024, for a term through January 2027 and sworn in by EXIM President and Chair Reta Jo Lewis today. 

"I am enthusiastic about rejoining the professional team at EXIM as we support American jobs through exporting,” said Director Bachus.

“For over four decades, Congressman Bachus has been a strong advocate for American exporters and workers, especially the small- and medium-sized businesses that are the very backbone of our economy,” said EXIM Chair Lewis. “We are thankful that Director Bachus will continue to play a pivotal role in advancing the mission and vision of EXIM as he rejoins the Board of Directors.”

Congressman Bachus previously served on the EXIM Board of Directors from May 9, 2019, through July 20, 2023. Congressman Bachus also formerly served as a U.S. Representative from Alabama and as Chairman of the House Committee on Financial Services, which is responsible for overseeing and advancing legislation related to EXIM. He was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on December 20, 2023.
