Mauricio joined the Export Finance team of BNP Paribas in New York in 2000. He is head of Export Finance North America team in New York being responsible for the business strategy, origination, execution and supervision of inbound US and Canada financing transactions supported by ECAs, as well as outbound financing transactions supported by North-America ECAs (US Ex-Im Bank, EDC), and Washington-based development and multilateral agencies (DFC, MIGA, World Bank, IDB, IFC).  

He has over 20 years of experience in structured financing in sectors such as Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Power (thermal & renewable), Mining, Rail, Cruise Ships, Defense, Telecom, Financial Institutions, Public Transportation, Water Infrastructure.  

Mauricio led the BNP Paribas efforts to rank (prior to 2015) as a top tier bank in US EXIM financing. The arranging, agency, and EXIM bond bookrunner roles in of the Pemex deals managed by Mauricio contributed in a large scale to positioning BNP Paribas as a leading bank solution in US EXIM bank transactions.  

As Head of Export Finance North America, Mauricio is responsible to responsible of BNP Paribas the yearly survey for the US EXIM Competitiveness Report. In his role he is also responsible for the shareholding and investment of BNP Paribas in PEFCO.  
Mauricio is an active moderator in trade finance conferences, in particular the TXF Americas conference, where he moderated the March 2022 panel “The three C’s : Climate, China, Content”, with panelists from US EXIM and DFC.  

Mauricio holds an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management (AZ), as well as from Pontificia Universidad Catolica (Chile). He is fully fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Italian, and has some knowledge of German.
