Sunshine Mills

Red Bay’s Sunshine Mills, Inc. provides a wide variety of pet foods and treats to its customers worldwide. Family-owned and operated for over 50 years, Sunshine Mills began as a producer of animal feed under the direction of Omer Bullen and his son-in-law, Fred Bostick, Jr.  The business continued to grow over four generations, and pet food was added to the production lineup in 1960 in a pelleted form. After President and CEO, Alan Bostick took the reins of the business in 1984, Sunshine Mills began to expand its product line and export its goods.

The company desired to grow its international sales but was wary about foreign buyer nonpayment.

To protect itself against the commercial and political risks of buyer nonpayment, Sunshine began using EXIM’s export credit insurance in 2008.

Since 2015, EXIM has covered $7.5 million in shipments to buyers in Europe, Asia, Central America, and the Middle East.
