Henry Pitney became the Deputy General Counsel of the Export Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) on February 18, 2020.
Prior to joining EXIM’s Office of the General Counsel (OGC), Mr. Pitney focused on a wide array of infrastructure, renewable energy, private equity and investment projects in the Middle East, China, Eurasia, Africa, and the Americas. He has extensive experience representing multilateral development banks and other development finance institutions, as well as private sector sources of finance and small businesses. From 2000, he served as Head of the Asian Development Bank’s Private Sector Legal Group within its OGC, joined Overseas Private Investment Corporation in 2004 as Assistant General Counsel, became Deputy General Counsel at the Millennium Challenge Corporation in 2007, and was appointed Deputy General Counsel of the Small Business Administration in 2015. He also served as Senior Legal Consultant within the OGC of the recently formed Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank prior to joining EXIM.
Mr. Pitney began his legal career with the international law firm White & Case, LLP, in New York City, and is a member of the bar of the State of New York. He holds a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School, and a Master of Arts in East Asian Studies from the University of Michigan. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Middlebury College. Mr. Pitney speaks Mandarin and Spanish.
