Multi-buyer Insurance Process Flowchart

1. Submit Application via e-mail to: mailto:multibuyerinsurance@exim.gov

a. get Insurance Policy Application at http://www.exim.gov/pub/txt/eib92-50.doc

b. You may request assistance from a broker.

2. Ex-Im Bank reviews application.

3. Ex-Im Bank issues quotewhich may or may not have a DCL (discretionary credit limit). Get Extending Credit Under Your Policy form at http://www.exim.gov/pub/ins/pdf/eib92-18.pdf

4. Applicant accepts quote and Ex-Im Bank issues policy.

5. Insured obtains buyer approvals, if necessary (ie: if DCL is not applicable to the buyer):

a. get SBCL (special buyer credit limit) Application at http://www.exim.gov/pub/ins/pdf/eib92-51.pdf

b. see Avoid Common Mistakes at http://www.exim.gov/news/avoid.html

6. Insured ships to buyers, reports shipments to Ex-Im Bank and pays premium. Get shipment report at http://www.exim.gov/pub/ins/pdf/eib92-29.pdf

7. Insured can finance receivables with their lender. Get form at http://www.exim.gov/pub/ins/pdf/eib92-31.pdf

8. If buyer defaults, insured files claim (within 240 days of default). See Ex-Im Bank Claim Filing Procedures at http://www.exim.gov/tools/claims/claims.html

9. Ex-Im Bank evaluates claim. If claim is approved, Ex-Im Bank will pay Insured and undertake recovery.

10. If claim is denied, Insured can request reconsideration. See Claims Reconsideration Process fact sheet at http://www.exim.gov/pub/ins/pdf/ebd-i-14.pdf
