Jeffrey Alan Abramson

Vice President, Trade Finance and Insurance
Export-Import Bank of the United States

As vice president of Trade Finance and Insurance, Jeff Abramson is responsible for management of Ex-Im Bank’s short and medium term export credit insurance and loan guarantee programs and all of the Bank’s sovereign and financial institution lending activities.  Financings authorized under these programs exceeded $4 billion for fiscal year 2005.

Abramson joined Ex-Im Bank in 2002 and, before assuming his current duties, served as director of the Latin America and European Business Groups within the Trade Finance and Insurance Division.  He also has been a relationship manager in the European Business Group and a loan officer in the Trade Finance Division. 

Before joining Ex-Im Bank, Abramson spent five years as principal and director of the Telecommunications and Technology Practice at DFI International, a Washington, D.C.–based consulting firm.  He specialized in providing strategic guidance, market analysis, M&A advisory services and corporate finance support to Fortune 100 corporations, financial institutions, and venture capital and private equity organizations.  Abramson also spent five years as a research associate and assistant project director at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, where he worked on projects supporting market reform in Central and Eastern Europe. 

Abramson is a former military officer with service in the US, Europe, and the Middle East, where he was decorated for combat service in the Persian Gulf.  He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and holds masters degrees in national security studies from Georgetown University and in finance from George Washington University.  He is also a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute.
